St. Johns County will run a free beach shuttle to Mickler's Landing Beachfront Park during Labor Day weekend. Buses operate Saturday, Sept. 5, through Monday, Sept. 7, carrying passengers between Cornerstone Park in Ponte Vedra and the Mickler's Landing parking lot.

The ride is free.

Shuttle route and hours

Cornerstone Park, at 1046 A1A North, serves as the pickup and drop-off point. Shuttles run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day, according to the county's Beach Services page. The service is designed to ease traffic congestion along A1A, a corridor that draws heavy holiday crowds near the beach.

The Mickler's route is the only shuttle the county has listed for the weekend. A former Pier shuttle, which carried visitors to the St. Johns County Ocean and Fishing Pier, is no longer available.

Safety patrols on the sand

Teams from the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office, the St. Augustine Beach Police Department and St. Johns County Marine Rescue will be stationed along the shoreline throughout the three-day weekend, WOKV reported.

Marine Rescue lifeguards will staff towers from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day. Beach flags will display current water and surf conditions.

Beach driving rules

On-beach driving will be allowed from 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., according to the county. Vehicles must stay within designated driving lanes.

Conditions can shift throughout the day at each access point, so drivers should check their specific access point before entering the beach. The county urges beachgoers to follow @SJCBeaches on Facebook, Instagram and X for real-time driving updates.
