St. Johns County Sheriff's Office deputies armed with a pool brush coaxed a large buck out of a resident's bathroom on Aug. 23 after the animal got inside the home.

The sheriff's office released video of the call on Thursday, Sept. 3, posting it to Facebook, Instagram and X under the title "A BUCK-WILD CALL FOR SERVICE." Action News Jax reported that deputies and someone inside the house blocked off rooms, leaving the deer only the exits as an escape route.

The buck bolted out of the home but took a dip in the homeowner's swimming pool before making its way back into the woods, according to the SJSO's Facebook post. The sheriff's office said deputies helped the buck safely escape using only their wits and the pool brush.

The SJSO added that the buck "fled before deputies could issue a warning for trespassing."

How the deer got inside the home remains unclear. The sheriff's office did not identify the neighborhood or the deputies who responded.
