Career from Paris streets to acclaim
Peyroux, 52, began her career busking on the streets of Paris as a teenager after moving there with her mother at age 12. She joined the Lost Wandering Blues and Jazz Band and toured Europe before recording her own music.
Her 2004 album "Careless Love" sold 500,000 copies and earned gold certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). A music writer for the New York Times compared her vocal style to Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald and Edith Piaf in 2013.
Latest album and touring philosophy
Her most recent studio album, "Let's Walk," released in 2024, is her ninth. The record blends jazz, folk and chamber pop across 10 original songs co-written by Peyroux, according to her official website. Producer Elliott Scheiner, whose credits include Fleetwood Mac and the Eagles, helmed the album. Steely Dan guitarist Jon Herington co-wrote the tracks.
On her website, Peyroux has described music as a form of community-building, saying art is about gathering with people and listening together. Peyroux returns to Ponte Vedra Concert Hall, where she previously performed in May 2022.
