Spafford, the Arizona-born jam-rock band known for extended improvisations, brings its fall tour to Ponte Vedra Concert Hall on Tuesday, Nov. 17.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. The show starts at 7 p.m. Tickets range from $40.15 to $62 and are available through the venue's website.

The Ponte Vedra Beach date is the first of five Florida stops. The run continues through Gainesville, Orlando, Boca Raton and St. Petersburg.

Spafford formed in Prescott, Arizona, in 2009, according to Goldmine magazine. The band has built a following through relentless touring and sets that stretch songs well past their studio lengths. Spafford has played Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival and Firefly Music Festival, according to the venue's event listing.

The current lineup pairs founding members Brian Moss on guitar and vocals and Nick Tkachyk on drums with keyboardist Cory Schechtman and bassist Shon Gordon. Their fourth studio album, "Cat Shop," arrived June 15 and is the first to feature the newer members. It is also the band's first studio release in four years.

The 11-track record marks a milestone for the group. Tkachyk told Goldmine in June that the band has now recorded every song in its live catalog.

"We're no longer playing 'catch up!'" Tkachyk said.

Future studio sessions will consist entirely of new material.

Fans got a taste of the band's improvisational range on Sept. 25, when Spafford stretched The Temptations' "The Way You Do the Things You Do" to nearly 24 minutes at Camp Deep End, a boutique festival in Navarro, California, Grateful Web reported.

Schechtman, who studied at Berklee College of Music, has added a jazz-influenced dimension to the group's sound. Tkachyk told Goldmine that Schechtman arranged all the saxophone parts on the "Cat Shop" track "High Beams" and recorded them himself.

Ponte Vedra Concert Hall is at 1050 A1A North in Ponte Vedra Beach. Tickets and details are available at pvconcerthall.com.
