A Chick-fil-A restaurant is back on track for Nocatee, three years after the chain first pursued the site and then went quiet.

St. Johns County received a permitting preapplication Monday, Aug. 24, for a 4,847-square-foot restaurant at the intersection of Nocatee Parkway and Crosswater Parkway, north of 355 Pine Lake Drive, according to the Jacksonville Daily Record. The county's development review committee is scheduled to discuss the project Wednesday, Sept. 9.

Atlanta-based Foresite Group, the project engineer, filed the preapplication. The firm has developed Chick-fil-A locations in Georgia and Mississippi and is now overseeing three other Chick-fil-A projects in St. Johns County: one along County Road 210 across from the Fountains at St. Johns, one at World Commerce Center near the Walmart Supercenter site and one in Bartram Park.

Site history

Chick-fil-A first signaled interest in the Nocatee location in 2023 and began permitting with St. Johns County at that time. The project stalled. No reason has been publicly disclosed.

Activity resumed on June 16, 2025, when JEA issued a service availability determination letter for an unnamed 4,847-square-foot restaurant at the same site. Foresite Group made that request. A service availability letter does not confirm a project but indicates the site is being actively considered for development.

Who owns the land

The property belongs to Sonoc Co. LLC, which partners with The PARC Group, Nocatee's master developer based in Ponte Vedra.

What's next

The Sept. 9 development review committee meeting is the next confirmed milestone. No construction start date or opening timeline has been announced. The chain has at least 24 locations in Northeast Florida, according to the company.
